Thanks again to everyone who contributed ideas, and for those who came to party with us and helped us wreck the floor. And we appreciate everyone who tuned in to see what we’d cooked up, too. We appreciate it.

This chapter of the wreck a floor saga is over. But, we’re looking at the next thing to rise up in its place. Watch this space!

We were really hoping for some massive deterioration, and although the boards seem to be separating here, and on other parts of the floor, there’s no real damage. We’ve had a lot of rain lately, which is to be expected in a Vancouver winter, and that has wreaked some havoc. Yet, our laminate floor has been on our patio for a month. There’s no way it should be holding up this well, even with all of the rain and all of the other weirdness we’ve thrown at it.

It’s kind of annoying!

Not one stain. Not one! It just doesn’t make sense. But, there it is.

You’ll be happy to know that I will have to clean up that mess in time for our next big event at the end of the week. More news on that soon!

So, like Marc’s mess, Matt’s experiment will go until next week. Stay tuned to see which cleaners leave the most damage.

Still, here’s Marc with an extremely half-hearted attempt to clean up:

We’ll leave it until Monday, and then do a second sweep as it were, and see just how badly stained we’ve gotten our floor.

It may amuse some of you to know that I stepped in Marc’s maple syrup puddle, which means that my right shoe is sticky. It makes rhythmic *swack* *swack* sounds on the tile when I walk…

You know how your fridge seems to give birth to bottles and bottles of half-used condiments?   Like the History of the Blues, no one really knows how old they are.

Well, it’s no different here in BuildDirect’s penthouse suite office in downtown Vancouver.  We have our own collection of stalwart condiments of undeterminable age.  And since we have a floor to wreck, that gave us an idea how to make our floor wreckage a little tastier.  Here’s Marc…

What a mess.  And guess who’ll have to clean it up.  Hint: the answer was in the video, and it’s not Marc.

We’ve left some of the, uh, refuse to stand over the weekend. It’s pretty corrosive stuff, as is all bird, um, stuff. Roofers the world over will tell you that.

Let’s see how our Toklo laminate floor has done.  Here’s Marc and Matt to give you all an idea of where we’re at today!

So with weather changes, rain, snow, hockey tape scuffs, chickens, knives (apparently!), and all of the normal stuff that outdoor flooring is exposed to, our floor seems to be dirty, but happy.

But, our creative, or should I say destructive, juices are flowing.

IT AINT OVER YET!

All in all, the chickens seemed to enjoy their new surroundings, although we don’t think they’re cut out for life in our downtown Vancouver office. The chickens are used to a MAC environment, and can’t get with Windows.

Seriously, although they were a little freaked out on the trip, they actually were pretty chilled once they got here – well, chilled for chickens anyway. And now they’ve been to the big city! How’s that for free range?

Thanks again to Matt for installing our makeshift chicken coop, just in case one or all of our friends decided to take flight. We’ll talk to Matt on Monday, to see if the chicken scratchings, peckings, and ‘leavings’ have had an effect.
